Blogging Post 2!

imageSecond blogpost, I apologize in advance if it’s incoherent or rambling.  I had a busy weekend at work, and I’m off today, Woohoo!  (I’m still in my pajamas!)  What we have is unbridled enthusiasm combined with a dose of fatigue and a “Mix it up Challenge” from Ellen Hutson using Concord and 9th and Ellen Hutson products.   So here it goes.  I got to play around with this fun and unique  “Hugs” die from Concord and 9th.  The sentiment “Hugs” is one of my favorites just for its sheer versatility, and I envision using this die a bunch because EVERYONE could use a little more hugging in their lives!

Before using this die, I actually went to the Concord and 9th website and watched the very helpful tutorial there on how to use it.  This reinforced to my pea-sized brain the importance of looking at the instructions BEFORE using something–a life lesson I still have yet to learn, haha!

I cut a 5 1/2″ x 12″ piece of water color background and folded it, masked off the back and sentiment and created the background with Distress Inks from the center out in Squeezed Lemonade, Twisted Citron, Cracked Pistachio, and Lucky Clover.  I flicked that with a paint brush dipped in water and then Kuretake Gansai Tabi Starry Colors in yellow gold.  I set that aside to dry.

I then die cut just the “Hugs” sentiment out of toner paper and ran that through my MINC mini in gold.  (I prob could have just used gold metallic cardstock, but I wanted to get some use out of my MINC, lol!)  I glued the golden HUGS onto the watercolor base with Multi Medium Matte (MMM)

I stamped and die cut the cute bunny and bouquet from the adorable Ellen Hutson Bear Ware collection.  I colored the bunny with Copic markers N0 and N2 and the flowers with RV06 and RV10 and B04 and Bo5, blending both bunny and flowers with the colorless blender.  Then I pretty much shellacked the heck out of both with clear Wink of Stella.  I can never get enough of that stuff, it brings that extra Je ne sais crois to every card I make.  I glued the bouquet to the bunny with MMM and then glued the bunny to the left and below the “gs” with the bunny’s paw glued on to the “g”.  I then glued 3 mm sequins from Pretty Pink Posh (PPP) with MMM and scattered and glued tiny gold hearts from PPP with MMM.  I was surprised with how easy the Concord and 9th die was to use, and I was really pleased with how this card turned out!  The cute, little bunny from Ellen Hutson just made this card absolutely darling–who wouldn’t feel better after getting a hug from him?  <3!
